2.0TDCI. The fuel filter is a paper filter, you unscrew a plastic cap and then put a new one in. It's not like the old style "tin" where you could fill it up with fuel to stop the air. It was only a nuisance not knowing how to do it, once worked out it was OK. Daniel.

The old trick of cracking a high pressure fuel union to bleed air is both pointless and risky on these high pressure (22,000psi) common rail engines. The high pressure side of the pump is self bleeding due to the return pipes from each injector and the pump. The problem is getting fuel up to the pump in the first place.
