The solution was to disconnect the battery, press the power button for a few seconds, then reconnect the battery. I wouldn't specifically doing it yourself on a Retina MBP (Apple doesn't consider it serviceable by anyone but Apple or an AASP), but perhaps have it evaluated and maybe mention something about it.

Perhaps you're right! I looked up the warranty coverage and it shows Macbook Pro Retina Display 15", Mid-2015 but PURCHASED in May 2018. So That should narrow it down a bit for battery. It should be MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2015) Battery. however the model number is definitely A1398, which is still a bit confusing perhaps? thCnP.
